Johns Manville FSK-25 faced insulation is a lightweight flame-resistant thermal and acoustical fiber glass insulation made of long, resilient glass fibers bonded with a thermosetting resin. The batts are laminated with an FSK (foil-scrim-kraft) facing, which enables the insulation to carry a fire hazard classification rating of 25/50 or less per ASTM E84 and also serves as an excellent vapor retarder. FSK-25 faced insulation may be left exposed where codes permit.

JM FSK-25 faced batt insulation can be used in a wide variety of wood frame, engineered wood and steel frame construction applications, including - New Construction: residential homes and commercial buildings and Retrofit: masonry walls and under roof decks.

FSK-25 faced insulation cuts easily with an ordinary utility knife. Stapling tabs are provided for attachment to wood framing. The insulation can also be installed with fasteners or simply pressed in place between studs or joists/rafters. FSK-25 faced insulation must be protected from outside elements like wind, rain and sunlight.

In colder climate areas, vapor retarders (whether attached to the insulation or applied separately) are often placed toward the heated or conditioned side of the wall. This is done to reduce water vapor penetration into the wall from the building interior. Check your local building codes for vapor retarder requirements.
